IPSUM is an association that works on an international level in the fields of dialogue, education, culture, and development. There are two key aspects of all activities: Self-expression and the exchange with others – beyond cultural, political, linguistic, religious and geographic borders. The exchange through pictures within and beyond cultural and political boundaries can represent the first step in mutual understanding. It provides an opportunity to learn about and from each other.
The goal is to empower the participants of the project to document it themselves. To feed the Social Media Campagne themselves. So they can report the progress and their achievements and raise awareness of the use and misuse of pictures. We want to raise awareness for a topic with an honest and respectful way. The documentation will be held in form of a Social Action Project, which will be explained in the following guide by a member of IPSUM, Katharina Bauer.
Social Action Photography’s goal is to improve well-being, reduce social exclusion, and create positive change at community, societal, national, or international levels.
Like most photography, its purpose is to tell stories to an audience. Being heard and telling the story can have a therapeutic effect.
It has been proven in many projects that photography and giving tasks stimulate the way of people able to express themselves which causes a decrease of frustration and have a shown good effect on people with disabilities, mental challenges, youth, and minorities.
